Norm Sartorius - Obsession

"Obsession" - Flea Market Maple - 21" long x 4 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" deep - 1998 - Private Collection - This bent twig seemed like a cane handle for years, but I am a spoonmaker, so eventually I had to carve this peculiar form into a spoon. From my notes at the time, I also called it "Bent out of Shape", perhaps commenting on my frustration carving the difficult bowl. Photography by Jim Osborn.
